So... obviously, this blog will be for reading. I'm just gonna write about all the books I read. I'll proabably write lots of lists. "to read" lists, "have read" lists, etc. I'm a list person.
I don't do much reading lately, as I'm so busy cross-stitching. Luckily, audiobooks are the perfect companion to a perfect stitching session.
Today I finished listening to "On The Road" by Jack Kerouac
All I can say is boring. I know it's an American classic and all, but still
...Maybe I just didn't understand the characters. Especially Dean. And Sal, probably the most boring person ever. Why oh why would a story be written from the POV of such a boring person? Although, there were a couple of passages, in particular some of the ones about the Jazz music, that were lovely. They were so descriptive and evocative that I even rated them 3 stars on my iPod ;)
Rating 2/10
After that I started and finished listening to "Mount Vernon Love Story" by Mary Higgins Clark
I never knew/cared much about George Washington, but I wanted to read something by MHC because my sister is obsessed with her, and I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. Granted, it's not one of her crime novels, so it might not really be the same. But anyway, not having much experience with historical novels, I have to say it was quite interesting. I mean, the story was 'cute' at best, and MHC's transitions were about as subtle as a sledgehammer, but I liked reading about George and Patsy like they were real people with nicknames and stuff. I think I'll have to read some more historical fiction.
Rating 5/10
Anyway, that's all for now. Time to go and update my stitching blog.
